From such a long, varied and successful relationship many couples can only dream. Drummer Jeff Hamilton and bassist John Clayton are on the verge of a golden wedding. The two musicians are still bubbling with energy to this day. In the past, this musical powerhouse has driven not only many small formations, such as the trio of pianist Monty Alexander, but also the “Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra” founded in 1986, which has long since become one of the most important big bands of jazz. Now the two gentlemen once again visit the WDR Big Band. Although they have played with almost anyone and with almost everything that can be imagined in jazz, fatigue, boredom and even routine are far and away with no trace.
