«Music we love»
Cécile McLorin Salvant is a musical chameleon. In a stunning way, she slips into new roles in each piece, whether she celebrates Kurt Weill or swings George Gershwin. With her last two albums “For One To Love” (2015) and “Dreams And Daggers” (2017) she won the Grammy for the best vocal album in jazz. Already last year, one could admire in the Vienna Konzerthaus, with which outstanding certainty the only 28-year-old singer sings through jazz history. Whether the fragility of Billie Holiday, the power of Ella Fitzgerald or the elegance of Sarah Vaughan – Cécile McLorin Salvant playfully masters the entire repertoire and has long since developed her own voice for her preference for songs with rough edges. Now she presents herself together with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which the renowned Down Beat Magazine described as “the best big band in the world”. Led by brothers Jeff and John Clayton on saxophone and bass and grandiose drummer Jeff Hamilton, Cécile McLorin Salvant will be a congenial supporter of the polyphonic orchestra.
