Renowned for performances of both traditional and modern masterpieces, the Temple University Studio Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Choirs present the 23rd annual concert at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts for the Boyer College of Music and Dance.
Celebrating the music of American composers for the 250th anniversary of the United States, this concert will feature the world premiere of TWO FIVE O, Reflections by John Clayton, a commissioned work for the Studio Orchestra set to photography from the Philadelphia Collections by longtime Temple photographer Joseph V. Labolito; Aaron Copland’s classic Appalachian Spring Suite; Freedom’s Plow by Rollo Dilworth, Elaine Brown Chair of Choral Music; Canticum Novum by Philadelphia-based composer Melissa Dunphy; and Plain-Chant for America by William Grant Still, one of the most significant African American composers of the 20th century.
